SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 130

Commending the Brunswick Academy girls' basketball team.

Agreed to by the Senate, March 12, 2026

WHEREAS, the Brunswick Academy girls' basketball team competed in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division IV state championship in back-to-back seasons, capturing the state title in the 2025 season and finishing runner-up in the 2026 season; and

WHEREAS, in the 2025 championship game, the Brunswick Academy Lady Vikings defeated the Carmel School to claim the first girls' basketball state championship in the school's history; and

WHEREAS, the Brunswick Academy Lady Vikings finished the 2026 championship as the state runner-up, capping off the season with an impressive 20–7 record; and

WHEREAS, the consecutive championship games represent a new era in the Brunswick Academy girls' basketball program, establishing it as one of the top programs in Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division IV; and

WHEREAS, the Brunswick Lady Vikings' success has brought statewide recognition to Brunswick Academy athletics, inspired younger players within the school's basketball program, and strengthened the school's athletic tradition; and

WHEREAS, the Brunswick Lady Vikings' achievements are a testament to the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff and the unwavering support of family members, friends, and the entire Brunswick Academy community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Brunswick Academy girls' basketball team be commended for successfully competing in back-to-back state championships; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Brunswick Academy girls' basketball team as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
