SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 120
Commending the Abingdon High School girls' volleyball team.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 11, 2026
WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School girls' volleyball team claimed its first state title since 1983 with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2025; and
WHEREAS, in the state final, the Abingdon High School Falcons faced the undefeated Christiansburg High School Blue Demons, who were responsible for the Falcons' only three losses over the course of the season; and
WHEREAS, the Abingdon Falcons defeated the Christiansburg Blue Demons 3–1, winning the first set 27–25, the third set 25–20, and the fourth set 25–21; the team finished the season with an impressive 32–3 record overall; and
WHEREAS, the Abingdon Falcons were led by a dynamic duo of Gracie Statzer, who recorded 20 kills, 26 digs, six blocks, and two assists, and Annsley Trivette, who finished with 20 kills, 10 blocks, and three digs; and
WHEREAS, the successful season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the unwavering support of family members, friends, and the entire Abingdon High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Abingdon High School girls' volleyball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2025; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Alexis Carson Perkins, head coach of the Abingdon High School girls' volleyball team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's outstanding athletic achievements.
