SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126

Commending Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545.

Agreed to by the Senate, March 12, 2026

WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545, a post within the nation's largest war veterans service organization, has supported veterans, active duty service members, and military families in the Commonwealth, while providing generous outreach to the Smithfield community; and

WHEREAS, since its founding, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545 has provided a welcoming atmosphere to war veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who support each other in the often challenging circumstances of returning to civilian life after service in combat; and

WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545 assists its members and their families by ensuring that they receive the benefits and services to which they are entitled, and the members of the post have served the community through numerous charitable events and activities over the course of its history; and

WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545 is true to its values of promoting patriotism, honoring military service, ensuring the care of veterans and their families, and serving the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545 be commended for its exemplary legacy of service and support for veterans, service members, and families in the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545 as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's service to veterans and the Smithfield community.
