SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 269

Commending the Tuscarora High School softball team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 12, 2026

WHEREAS, the Tuscarora High School softball team of Loudoun County won the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship on June 14, 2025, at Monticello High School in Charlottesville; and

WHEREAS, the Tuscarora High School Huskies defeated the Jefferson Forest High School Cavaliers of Bedford County by a score of 3–1 to bring home the first state championship title in program history; and

WHEREAS, the Tuscarora Huskies scored two decisive runs in the first inning and never looked back, adding to their lead with another run in the third inning; and

WHEREAS, the Tuscarora Huskies won 11 of their last 12 games to finish the season with an impressive 14–6 record; and

WHEREAS, the Tuscarora Huskies outscored their opponents 14–1 in their three state playoff victories on their march to the championship, and pitcher Peyton Travis earned the win in each of those games; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Tuscarora Huskies were the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Tuscarora High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Tuscarora High School softball team for winning the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bridget Kemp, coach of the Tuscarora High School softball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
