SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 150

Commending the Nansemond River High School 2025–2026 athletics program.

Agreed to by the Senate, March 13, 2026

WHEREAS, during the 2025–2026 season, Nansemond River High School's athletics teams achieved multiple championship titles, reinforcing the school's reputation as a leader in high school athletics; and

WHEREAS, in late 2025, the Nansemond River field hockey team capped off a dominant season by winning the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 5 state championship through a combination of disciplined defense, clutch scoring, and teamwork; and

WHEREAS, in early 2026, the Nansemond River wrestling program carried momentum and won the VHSL Region 5B championship through its depth, determination, and skill, earning recognition as one of the top wrestling programs in southeastern Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in March 2026, the Nansemond River girls' indoor track and field team captured the VHSL Class 5 state title with 113 points; the members of the team excelled in sprints, relays, distance events, and field competitions, showcasing the school's breadth of talent and competitive excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Nansemond River High School 2025–2026 athletics program hereby be commended for its outstanding performances in field hockey, wrestling, and indoor track and field; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nansemond River High School as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the school's achievements.
