SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 145

Commending the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy swim and dive team.

Agreed to by the Senate, March 13, 2026

WHEREAS, the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy swim and dive team of Suffolk had a strong performance at the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship meet in February 2026 at the SwimRVA Aquatics Center in Richmond; and

WHEREAS, the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints' boys' 200-meter freestyle relay team, which included Aidan DeFeo, Preston DeFeo, Chase Eliason, and Grant Starkey, set a Nansemond-Suffolk Academy record with a time of 1:31.14; and

WHEREAS, with several members of its boys' 200-meter freestyle relay team returning next year, the Nansemond-Suffolk Saints are poised to build upon their success; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Nansemond-Suffolk Saints are the result of the determination and hard work of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Nansemond-Suffolk Academy community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy swim and dive team hereby be commended for their performance at the 2026 Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship meet; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy swim and dive team as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the program's continued success.
