SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 156
Commending T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D., has greatly served communities in the Commonwealth and beyond as the founder and editor-in-chief of the South Asian Herald; and
WHEREAS, Vishnudatta Jayaraman founded the South Asian Herald in October 2024 with a mission to establish a news outlet that would serve as an authentic voice of the South Asian community in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Vishnudatta Jayaraman ensured the success of the South Asian Herald by placing great emphasis on timely, fact-based reporting and by covering a variety of matters of interest to the community, from local events to international geopolitical concerns; and
WHEREAS, Vishnudatta Jayaraman is an accredited journalist who has advanced his field as a member of the White House Correspondents' Association, the National Press Club, the South Asian Journalists Association, and the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the United States; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the South Asian Herald, Vishnudatta Jayaraman has previously worked with the Hindustan Times and as a contributing editor for The Yearbook of the United Nations; and
WHEREAS, throughout his journalism career, Vishnudatta Jayaraman has embodied the highest ideals of ethical journalism, earning recognition from the United States Congress and other entities; and
WHEREAS, through both the South Asian Herald and his other journalistic endeavors, Vishnudatta Jayaraman has amplified diverse voices, fostered informed dialogue, and brought greater attention to the South Asian community in the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D., hereby be commended for his commitment to excellence in journalism and his service to the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D., as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth.
