SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 225

Commending Tyleik Williams.

WHEREAS, Tyleik Williams, a graduate of Unity Reed High School, became the first athlete from Prince William County Public Schools to be selected in the first round of the National Football League Draft in 2025; and

WHEREAS, born in Manassas, Tyleik Williams was a three-year starter for the Unity Reed Lions before matriculating at The Ohio State University, where he started as a defensive lineman as a true freshman; and

WHEREAS, during his college career, Tyleik Williams recorded 137 tackles, 27 tackles for a loss, and 11.5 sacks in 51 games; in his final game, he helped lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to a national championship title with a 34–23 victory over the University of Notre Dame; and

WHEREAS, Tyleik Williams earned a reputation as an elite athlete for his speed, instincts, and versatility and was a top prospect in the 2025 National Football League (NFL) Draft; and

WHEREAS, Tyleik Williams was drafted 28th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions; in addition to being the highest-ever draftee from Prince William County Public Schools, he became the fifth player in Unity Reed High School history drafted by an NFL team; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Tyleik Williams, the first football player from Prince William County Public Schools to be selected in the first round of the National Football League Draft; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tyleik Williams as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his athletic achievements.
