SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 210
Commending North View Baptist Church.

WHEREAS, for 150 years, North View Baptist Church in Mecklenburg County has greatly served the community by providing uplifting spiritual guidance, joyous occasions for worship and fellowship, and meaningful opportunities for charitable outreach; and
WHEREAS, the origins of North View Baptist Church can be traced to 1876, when a group of worshippers from New Grove Baptist Church in Lunenburg County decided to establish a church in Mecklenburg County; and
WHEREAS, after first meeting under a brush arbor, North View Baptist Church was deeded land by Ashby Lee Ogburn in 1876, and a church building was erected there in the early 1900s; and
WHEREAS, from one of its first pastors, the Reverend William Miller, to its current pastor, the Reverend Robert L. Faulcon, Sr., North View Baptist Church has been led by a distinguished line of faith leaders; and
WHEREAS, North View Baptist Church has organized and supported a number of ministries and outreach activities over the years to help its members grow in their faith and to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, by serving as a beacon of hope and faith in the community, North View Baptist Church has helped to make Mecklenburg County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend North View Baptist Church for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to North View Baptist Church as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the church's contributions to Mecklenburg County and the Commonwealth.
