SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 182

Commending the Battlefield High School gymnastics team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 12, 2026

WHEREAS, the Battlefield High School gymnastics team won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship on February 20, 2026, becoming the first team from Prince William County to win a state title in gymnastics since 2009; and

WHEREAS, a perennial powerhouse in gymnastics, the Battlefield High School Bobcats have won four consecutive Cedar Run District championships and four consecutive Region 6B championships and finished as state runner-up for the past three years; and

WHEREAS, in the 2026 state championship, held at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, the Battlefield Bobcats defeated the Robinson Secondary School Rams by three-tenths of a point, winning with a score of 147.950; and

WHEREAS, the victorious season is a tribute to the skill, dedication, and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the unwavering support of the entire Battlefield High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Battlefield High School gymnastics team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship in 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mary Henry, head coach of the Battlefield High School gymnastics team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the future.
