SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 133
Celebrating the life of Evan Morgan Jewell.

WHEREAS, Evan Morgan Jewell, a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend who was an active member of the Winchester community, died on February 2, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Evan Jewell was born in Fairfax to John and Susan Jewell and spent much of his youth in Winchester; he cultivated his lifelong love of aquatics in his youth, swimming in the summer league at Stonebrook Club and competing year-round with the Winchester Swim Team; and
WHEREAS, Evan Jewell was educated as a homeschool student, then earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from Messiah College in Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the swim team; and
WHEREAS, Evan Jewell was a master mason with Spurmont Lodge No. 98 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; he was also honored by Virginia 4-H as a 4-H All Star for his contributions to agriculture and helped protect the Commonwealth's natural resources as a member of the Winchester-Frederick County Conservation Club; and
WHEREAS, outside of his career and community service, Evan Jewell was an avid Magic: The Gathering trading card game player and earned a third-degree black belt in Kenpo Karate; he was happiest while enjoying life's simple moments and making lasting memories with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Evan Jewell enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Opequon Presbyterian Church in Frederick County; and
WHEREAS, Evan Jewell will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Mariel; his parents, John and Susan; his twin brother, Blair; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Evan Morgan Jewell, a highly admired member of the Winchester community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Evan Morgan Jewell as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
