WHEREAS, James McConville, an esteemed civil, family, and elder law attorney from Annandale whose legal career spanned more than 50 years, retires in 2026; and

WHEREAS, James “Jim” McConville attended Boston College and earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1967 and a juris doctor degree three years later before embarking on his professional career in the office of United States Senator William Bulger; and

WHEREAS, after working on a number of political campaigns and being admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1974, Jim McConville formed the firm Reuss, McConville, King & Green; and

WHEREAS, Jim McConville was admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the Virginia State Bar, and the United States Court of Appeals, and he later set out to start his own solo practice in Annandale in 1987; and

WHEREAS, throughout his years as an attorney, Jim McConville worked tirelessly to advocate for his clients, and he generously offered his legal expertise pro bono to assist a number of local faith and civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, Jim McConville previously served his community as president of both the Oak Hill Civic Association and the Annandale Rotary Club, and he made an impact on countless lives through his volunteer work with Annandale United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Jim McConville was a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party of Virginia and worked on several local, state, and national campaigns over the years; and

WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished and busy legal career, Jim McConville never failed to show up for his wife, Judy, and his daughters, Catherine and Elizabeth, and he looks forward to spending more quality time with them in his retirement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That James McConville hereby be commended for his remarkable legal career on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James McConville as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes for a joyful and fulfilling retirement.
