Commending Kerrie Wilson.

WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson, chief executive officer of Cornerstones, a nonprofit organization in Reston dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency by offering individuals and families in need food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other human services, retires in 2026; and

WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson began her career at the American Cancer Society, where her focus was on cancer prevention in medically underserved neighborhoods, and she rose to become national vice president for government relations with the organization; and

WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson joined Cornerstones, formerly known as Reston Interfaith, in 2001; over her 25 years of leadership, Cornerstones, with support from its companion limited liability corporation, Cornerstones Housing Corporation, has grown into one of the preeminent nonprofit organizations in Northern Virginia, offering affordable housing and human services to neighbors in need by serving almost 26,000 households annually; and

WHEREAS, under Kerrie Wilson's leadership, Cornerstones has expanded through innovative partnerships, impactful programs, and effective advocacy to amplify the voices of those most in need, including through the development of the FREE from Hunger Center in Sterling, a 10,000-square-foot food warehouse that facilitates food collection, rescue, and distribution operations in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties; and

WHEREAS, Kerrie Wilson has been instrumental in rallying faith congregations, low-income residents, elected officials, and community leaders across Fairfax and Loudoun Counties to invest their voices and support for collective advocacy in action, particularly by addressing emerging needs around affordable housing and food security and by providing resources to enable children and families to thrive; and

WHEREAS, beyond her role with Cornerstones, Kerrie Wilson has supported the community as co-chair of Fairfax County's Affordable Housing Advisory Council and through her involvement with the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Fairfax, the Virginia Nonprofit Leadership Council, the Reston Hospital Center Board of Trustees, the Meyer Foundation, and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, among many awards in recognition of her extraordinary efforts, Kerrie Wilson received the Virginia Legacy Award from the Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis in 2016 and the Non-Profit Leadership Award from Leadership Fairfax in 2018; and

WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to the individuals, families, and communities she serves, Kerrie Wilson has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Kerrie Wilson, chief executive officer of Cornerstones, hereby be commended on the occasion of her retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kerrie Wilson as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes for a joyful and fulfilling retirement.
