SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 289

Commending the Woodgrove High School wrestling team.

WHEREAS, the Woodgrove High School wrestling team of Loudoun County won the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship on February 21, 2026, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center; and
WHEREAS, the Woodgrove High School Wolverines tallied 153.5 points to best the runner-up Loudoun County High School Captains by 41.5 points, bringing home the program's third consecutive state championship title; and
WHEREAS, the Woodgrove Wolverines saw strong performances from all of its wrestlers, including Camden Murray and Sawyer Jones, who placed first in their events; Campbell Frook, who placed second in his event; Adam Skinner, Colten Jones, and Ibrahim Zaky, who placed third in their events; and Jackson Knupp, who placed fifth in his event; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Woodgrove Wolverines are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Woodgrove High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Woodgrove High School wrestling team for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Woodgrove High School wrestling team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
