SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 285

Commending the Heritage High School baseball team.

WHEREAS, the Heritage High School baseball team of Loudoun County won the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship on June 14, 2025, in Charlottesville; and

WHEREAS, the Heritage High School Pride defeated the Woodgrove High School Wolverines of Loudoun County by a score of 12–2 to bring home the first state championship title in program history and the first boys' varsity championship title at Heritage High School; and

WHEREAS, the Heritage Pride jumped out to a quick lead with nine runs in the first two innings and never looked back, bringing the game to an early close with a run-rule win in five innings; and

WHEREAS, the Heritage Pride were led to victory by Owen Brundage, Erick Flores, and Aiden Delaney, who each notched three runs-batted-in during the contest, and Mark Van Tuyle, who earned the win on the mound; and

WHEREAS, after starting the year with a 6–11 record, the Heritage Pride found their identity and turned around their season by winning their last 12 games, which included championship wins in the district and regional tournaments; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Heritage Pride are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Heritage High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Heritage High School baseball team for winning the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nolan Potts, coach of the Heritage High School baseball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
