SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 267

Commending the Independence High School golf team.

WHEREAS, the Independence High School golf team secured its fifth consecutive state title by winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship at Bristow Manor Golf Club in October 2025; and

WHEREAS, since Independence High School opened in 2019, its golf team has won a total of six state championships in three Virginia High School League classifications, the only team in the Commonwealth to do so; the team moved into Class 6 for the 2025 season; and

WHEREAS, the Independence High School Tigers finished with a total score of 294, defeating the runners-up from Robinson Secondary School by six strokes; and

WHEREAS, the successful season is a testament to the skill and determination of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the unwavering support of the entire Independence High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Independence High School golf team for winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Independence High School golf team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements.
