Commending the Salem High School Spartans boys' lacrosse team.

WHEREAS, the Salem High School Spartans boys' lacrosse team won the Virginia High School League Class 4 State Championship on June 14, 2025 to capture Salem's first boys' lacrosse championship; and
WHEREAS, the Salem High School Spartans demonstrated exceptional dominance in the postseason, defeating Jefferson Forest 14–3 to claim the Region 4D crown before embarking on a rigorous state tournament run; and
WHEREAS, in the state quarterfinals, the Salem High School Spartans defeated Broad Run High School 9–4, followed by a hard-fought 7–5 victory in the semifinals over perennial powerhouse Atlee High School; and
WHEREAS, the Salem High School Spartans secured the state title with a decisive 11–7 victory over Loudoun County High School in the championship final, marking the program's first lacrosse state title in 28 varsity seasons; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 state championship culminated an incredible two-year period for the program, during which the Salem High School Spartans posted a 17–3 record following an impressive 17–1 season in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 team was led by First Team All-State selections Jackson Jones, Ty Hicklin, Parker Dallas, Jackson Wininger, Ryan Warren, Brayden Hall, and Ronnie Frith; and
WHEREAS, the success of the championship season was a total team effort, with vital contributions from Logan Sparks, Tucker Preas, Bradley Cuddy, Jordan Eason, Mason Price, Oliver Farber, Jack Ellis, Jackson Camper, Wade Marble, Richard Hof, Carson Garland, Gage Abbott, Alexander Foster, Ethan Russell, Holden Custer, Jake Thompson, Andrew Nevergold, Michael Crawley, DaShawn Jones, and Winston Wolfe; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach George Revercomb, who was honored as the State Coach of the Year, and assistant coaches Chad Custer, Joe Dishaw, Chad Fisher, A.J. Blankenship, and David Turk provided the expert guidance and leadership necessary to reach the pinnacle of the sport; and
WHEREAS, the Salem High School Spartans boys' lacrosse team serves as a source of pride for the City of Salem, embodying the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Salem High School Spartans boys' lacrosse team on the occasion of its 2025 VHSL Class 4 State Championship victory; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Salem High School Spartans boys' lacrosse team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's historic achievement and dedication to excellence.
