SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 223

Commending the Gainesville High School boys' indoor track and field team.

WHEREAS, the Gainesville High School boys' indoor track and field team won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship, held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, in March 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Gainesville High School Cardinals finished with 51 points, defeating the second-place team from Patriot High School by two points; and

WHEREAS, Gainesville High School junior Cody Scott won the pole vault with a leap of 14 feet, six inches, while the team of Gavin Daniels, Trent Daniels, Isaiah Foster, and Will Hamacher took first place in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 7:43.18; and

WHEREAS, Gavin Daniels, Trent Daniels, and Isaiah Foster all added crucial points by finishing in the top eight of both the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run; and

WHEREAS, the Gainesville Cardinals' victorious season is a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the unwavering support of the entire Gainesville High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Gainesville High School boys' indoor track and field team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Gainesville High School boys' indoor track and field team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements.
