Commending Jeannine Prokop.

WHEREAS, Jeannine Prokop, a resident of Herndon, captured the Pan American Fencing Championship in the Women's Epee Veteran 1 (50 to 59-year-old) category on August 19, 2024, in San Jose, Costa Rica; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Prokop went undefeated in five-touch bouts in a pool of six competitors representing the countries of Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and the United States; and

WHEREAS, in the direct elimination round to 10-touch bouts, Jeannine Prokop defeated opponents from Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Puerto Rico to receive the Gold Medal from the International Fencing Federation, the international governing body for the sport of fencing, which sponsors the Pan American Fencing Championships; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Prokop is coached by fencing maestro Marco Secco, trains at the NOVA Fencing and Archery Club in Falls Church, and is a lifetime member of USA Fencing, the national governing body for the sport of fencing in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Jeannine Prokop's accomplishments are the result of her hard work and dedication and have brought great pride to the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jeannine Prokop for winning the 2024 Pan American Fencing Championship in the Women's Epee Veteran 1 (50 to 59-year-old) category; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeannine Prokop as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for her continued success in future seasons.
