Commending the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership.

WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership, a collaborative group of local organizations in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, works to raise awareness of the dangers of invasive plants and to preserve native plants and urban tree canopy; and

WHEREAS, on February 27, 2026, the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership held its second annual open house, coinciding with Virginia Invasive Species Awareness Week and National Invasive Species Awareness Week; and

WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership provides education on how invasive plant species can overtake native plant species, causing substantial damage to farms, livestock, wildlife, and landscapes across the region and around the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership develops strategies for homeowners, farmers, businesses, and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate invasive plant species; and

WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership works with the Rivanna Conservation Alliance, Charlottesville Tree Commission, Piedmont Master Gardeners, Rivanna Master Naturalists, Virginia Native Plant Society, ReLeaf Cville, Blue Ridge PRISM, Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards, Botanical Garden of the Piedmont, Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Department, and Charlottesville Office of Sustainability to fulfill its goals; and

WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership mobilizes community members to be good stewards of the Commonwealth's natural resources and ensure that Charlottesville remains a place where everyone thrives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership for its work to address the dangers of invasive plants; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Charlottesville Invasive Plant Partnership as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's legacy of service to the residents of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
