Commending Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates.

WHEREAS, for 30 years, Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates has trained and assisted advocates to represent the best interests of children in the foster care systems of Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Madison Counties; and
WHEREAS, since its founding, Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates (Piedmont CASA) has trained more than 850 advocates, who have collectively served more than 2,600 children; and
WHEREAS, Piedmont CASA's advocates are uniquely positioned to be a source of continuity and strength for foster children as they are transitioned between different living arrangements, schools, and social workers; and
WHEREAS, the tireless efforts of Piedmont CASA's advocates have improved the quality of life of the children they serve, helping many to break the cycle of abuse and neglect and become stable and productive members of their communities; and
WHEREAS, on October 8, 2025, Piedmont CASA's current and former advocates, staff, board members, and community supporters gathered to honor and reflect upon the organization's legacy of serving children throughout the Greater Charlottesville area; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to young people in the Commonwealth.
