Commending the Haymarket Police Department.

WHEREAS, on December 4, 2025, the Haymarket Police Department became the 115th police department in the Commonwealth to receive agency accreditation from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Haymarket Police Department oversees the totality of police operations for the Town of Haymarket, including community patrol, criminal investigations, traffic and parking enforcement, and victim services; and
WHEREAS, the personnel of the Haymarket Police Department devoted three years to implementing and achieving the operational standards that are required for accreditation from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC); and
WHEREAS, accreditation from the VLEPSC will enhance the Haymarket Police Department's ability to protect and serve the community effectively and efficiently, while engendering greater public confidence in the agency and understanding of its services, boosting officer morale, and promoting positive relations between the agency and community partners; and
WHEREAS, the Haymarket Police Department's VLEPSC accreditation is a testament to the steadfast dedication and professionalism of its officers, who work tirelessly and courageously every day to ensure the safety and well-being of the Haymarket community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Haymarket Police Department for receiving accreditation from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Haymarket Police Department as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the agency's contributions to Haymarket and the Commonwealth.
