Commending the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry.

WHEREAS, the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry, an organization dedicated to combating hunger and food insecurity in order to ensure the well-being of individuals and families in Haymarket and Prince William County, commemorated its 20th anniversary in 2025; and
WHEREAS, the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry aspires to eliminate hunger in Prince William County by serving as a reliable resource for those in need and by educating the community about issues relating to health and nutrition; and
WHEREAS, since its founding in 2005, the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry has steadily grown to fulfill its mission; in the last year alone, the organization distributed more than 550,000 pounds of food to approximately 40,000 people, including 14,000 children; and
WHEREAS, the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry offers food to anyone in its service area without requiring a demonstration of financial need, encouraging greater participation by members of the community and broadening the organization's impact; and
WHEREAS, on November 9, 2025, the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry organized a pop-up food distribution event for the benefit of any federal employees affected by the United States Government's shutdown; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry are the result of the tireless efforts and dedication of its entirely volunteer staff and the generous support of many individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations in the Haymarket community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to Haymarket and the Commonwealth.
