Commending Green Run Elementary School.

WHEREAS, for 50 years, Green Run Elementary School in Virginia Beach has offered its students guidance, compassion, and transformational educational opportunities, contributing to their success both in and out of the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Green Run Elementary School was established to address the rapidly growing population in the Green Run neighborhood of Virginia Beach and became operational on July 1, 1975, when its principal and secretary operated out of an office in nearby Holland Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, the students of Green Run Elementary School were housed across four elementary schools in the area until 1976, when Green Run Elementary School's new building was completed; and

WHEREAS, since its first principal, Robert Pearsall, Green Run Elementary School has been led by a distinguished line of education administrators, including its current principal, Sheila Wynn; and

WHEREAS, the administration, faculty, and staff of Green Run Elementary School work tirelessly every day to cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment that nurtures students' academic, social, and emotional well-being; and

WHEREAS, Green Run Elementary School challenges its students with a rigorous and demanding education while providing the resources and assistance they need to succeed, empowering them to achieve their full potential; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Green Run Elementary School are the result of the visionary leadership of its administration, the hard work and dedication of its faculty and staff, and the unwavering support of its families and the entire Virginia Beach community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Green Run Elementary School in Virginia Beach hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Green Run Elementary School as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the school's contributions to Virginia Beach and the Commonwealth.
