Commending Matt Walker.

WHEREAS, for 14 years, Matt Walker has overseen daily operations of Middlesex County government as county administrator, providing steady leadership and ensuring efficient and effective service to the public; and

WHEREAS, Matt Walker began serving as the county administrator of Middlesex County in 2012 and demonstrated a commitment to innovation and collaboration in local government throughout his tenure; and

WHEREAS, Matt Walker oversaw the establishment of the Middlesex Water Authority and the expansion of water lines to Deltaville, as well as the creation of the Middlesex Broadband Authority, ensuring reliable broadband access to nearly all areas of the county; and

WHEREAS, Matt Walker strengthened local economic development by attracting new businesses to Middlesex County and oversaw meaningful improvements to the county's fiscal systems; and

WHEREAS, Matt Walker developed numerous policies and procedures that enhanced transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in local government; and

WHEREAS, through his visionary leadership, Matt Walker greatly improved the quality of life in Middlesex County, and his dedication and professionalism have set a standard of excellence that will continue to benefit the community for years to come; and

WHEREAS, over the course of more than three decades of local government service, including his 14 years as county administrator, Matt Walker served the Commonwealth with the utmost integrity and distinction; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Matt Walker hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement as county administrator of Middlesex County in 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Matt Walker as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his service to Middlesex County and the Commonwealth.
