WHEREAS, Andrea Miller, executive director of People Demanding Action, has dedicated her career to advocating for social justice and empowering underrepresented communities; and
WHEREAS, as a multi-issue advocate, Andrea Miller has effectively mobilized support on critical issues, including voting rights, climate change, and health care, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to positive societal change; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Miller has successfully designed and implemented digital advocacy strategies that have enhanced outreach efforts for small to medium-sized organizations through the Progressive Support Project, particularly during the 2017 and 2018 elections; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Miller's extensive political experience beyond serving as the executive director of People Demanding Action includes serving as the former co-executive director of Progressive Democrats of America, running as the Democratic nominee for Virginia's 4th Congressional District in 2008, and holding key roles in significant campaign efforts, including United States Congressman Dennis Kucinich's presidential campaign; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Miller has played a vital role in fostering collaboration among lawmakers, activists, and nonprofit leaders during her leadership of the Progressive Round Table on Capitol Hill; and
WHEREAS, as the founding Tri-Chair of the Virginia Poor People's Campaign, Andrea Miller has worked diligently to elevate the voices of marginalized communities across various states, demonstrating her commitment to grassroots organizing and community empowerment; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Miller's advocacy has been recognized by numerous organizations, including endorsements from People Demanding Action, the California Nurses Association, and the Sierra Club, underscoring her impact and influence in the field of advocacy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Andrea Miller for her exceptional contributions to advocacy, her dedication to social justice, and her tireless efforts to empower communities; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Andrea Miller as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for her continued leadership in the years to come.
