Commending the 2026 Community Builders Award honorees of the Hampton Roads Community Action Program.

WHEREAS, in 2026, the Hampton Roads Community Action Program will honor eight distinguished local leaders with its Community Builders Award; and
WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Community Action Program (HRCAP) is a nonprofit community action agency that has served residents of Southeastern Virginia for more than 50 years, working to improve the quality of life for individuals and families through programs in education, training, work experience, housing counseling, emergency services, and other proven strategies; and
WHEREAS, the Hampton Roads Community Action Program (HRCAP) has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to strengthening communities and advancing economic stability throughout the Hampton Roads Region; and
WHEREAS, the HRCAP will host the 2026 Community Builders Awards on June 4, 2026, at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, continuing its tradition of recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to service and community transformation through education, volunteerism, business leadership, and outreach; and
WHEREAS, the HRCAP's 2026 Community Builders Awards ceremony embraces the theme “Purpose in Action — Using Your Gifts to Uplift Others and Bridge the Gap,” highlighting the importance of service, leadership, and community responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the HRCAP has selected eight distinguished honorees whose leadership, professional excellence, and community contributions have made a meaningful and lasting impact in Hampton Roads, including Michael C. Creedon, Jr., chief executive officer of Dollar Tree, Inc.; Iris Lundy, vice president of health impact and engagement at Sentara Health; Deborah DiCroce, chief executive officer of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation; José Morey, chief executive officer of Ad Astra Media, LLC; Bishop Michael Golden, Jr., pastor of Greater Emmanuel Temple COGIC in Hampton; Sonja Stills, commissioner of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference; the Honorable Cliff Hayes, Jr., Delegate of the 91st District; and Kassidy Nicole Freeman, student at Nansemond River High School in Suffolk; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the 2026 Community Builders Award honorees of the Hampton Roads Community Action Program hereby be commended for their leadership, service, and commitment to the Hampton Roads Region; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to the 2026 Community Builders Award honorees of the Hampton Roads Community Action Program as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for their contributions to Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth.
