Commending the Reverend Darryl G. Thompson.

WHEREAS, the Reverend Darryl G. Thompson, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Henrico County, has provided his congregation with uplifting spiritual leadership and pastoral care for 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Darryl Thompson holds a degree from Hampton University and a master of divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and served for some time in Columbus, Ohio, before joining Mount Olive Baptist Church, including as director of Christian education at Shiloh Baptist Church and as ministry director at Faith Ministries Interdenominational Church; and
WHEREAS, Darryl Thompson has facilitated the creation of several ministries at Mount Olive Baptist Church to help his parishioners grow in their faith, including the Christian Arts Ministry, the Hope Biblical Encouragement Ministry, the Bereavement and Healing Support Ministry, the Health Ministry, the Food Pantry Ministry, the Bible Institute, the Security Ministry, the Greeter's Ministry, the Historical Ministry, the Marriage Enrichment Ministry, Hope Village Outreach, and the Nursing Home Ministry; and
WHEREAS, Darryl Thompson has inspired the congregation at Mount Olive Baptist Church to make a difference in the lives of others by spearheading a number of charitable outreach endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Darryl Thompson has extended his love and wisdom beyond the walls of Mount Olive Baptist Church by serving as president and a member of the Henrico Ministers' Conference and Vicinity; and
WHEREAS, by leading a church that is a beacon of hope, love, and faith for the Henrico County community, Darryl Thompson has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Reverend Darryl G. Thompson on the occasion of his 30th anniversary as pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Reverend Darryl G. Thompson as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth.
