SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 126

Commending Jason Hasty.

WHEREAS, Jason Hasty of Chesterfield County was selected to represent the Commonwealth at the 2025 U.S. Adaptive Open Golf Championship in Rockville, Maryland, and the 2026 Cairns Cup in Spain; and

WHEREAS, despite a congenital condition halting the development of the fingers on his left hand above the knuckles, Jason Hasty was a talented multi-sport athlete in high school and began golfing after college; and

WHEREAS, Jason Hasty joined the United States Adaptive Golf Alliance, which allows people with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities to participate in tournament-level play through modified rules or equipment based on players' needs; and

WHEREAS, in 2025, Jason Hasty was one of 96 golfers selected to participate in the fourth annual U.S. Adaptive Open Golf Championship, reflecting his skill and inspirational determination; he was one of only two golfers from the Commonwealth in the tournament; and

WHEREAS, Jason Hasty was subsequently selected to participate in the 2026 Cairns Cup, the premier match play event in disability golf, which brings together the finest adaptive golfers from Europe and the United States, showcasing the incredible talent, resilience, and sportsmanship in the disability community; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his accomplishments as a golfer, Jason Hasty established NUBZ Golf Solutions, which helps other adaptive golfers cover expenses for tournaments and offers support programs for the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jason Hasty for his work as an ambassador for the Commonwealth at national and international adaptive golf events; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jason Hasty as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his athletic abilities and achievements.
