Commending the Mertz Career and Technical Center.

WHEREAS, for 50 years, the Mertz Career and Technical Center has provided exceptional vocational education opportunities to the students of Bath County High School; and

WHEREAS, with the support of a significant gift from Harold and Esther Mertz, cofounders of the Publishers Clearing House, the construction of the Mertz Vocational Center, now known as the Mertz Career and Technical Center, began in 1975; and

WHEREAS, since its founding, the Mertz Career and Technical Center has offered its students a variety of courses to meet their needs and interests, including courses in automotive repair, business, carpentry, the culinary arts, and industrial maintenance; and

WHEREAS, by enabling its students to acquire valuable and practical skills and achieve workplace readiness and industry-specific certifications, the Mertz Career and Technical Center has helped many to find success in their careers and in their subsequent educational pursuits; and

WHEREAS, the Mertz Career and Technical Center has received numerous accolades over the years in honor of its accomplishments, including recognition from the Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, today, the Mertz Career and Technical Center is a key part of the Bath County High School's program of studies and an important reason why Bath County is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Mertz Career and Technical Center hereby be commended for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Mertz Career and Technical Center as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its contributions to Bath County and the Commonwealth.
