WHEREAS, Pork Barrel BBQ, a beloved barbecue restaurant in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2026; and
WHEREAS, Pork Barrel BBQ was opened in 2011 by “Mango” Mike Anderson and partner Bill Blackburn, who teamed up with Heath Hall and Brett Thompson, competition barbecue experts and accomplished entrepreneurs, who had recently developed their award-winning Pork Barrel BBQ seasoning; and
WHEREAS, Pork Barrel BBQ both honors tradition and embraces innovation in crafting its delicious, mouth-watering barbecue; its chefs start with fresh, quality meats, which are slowly smoked throughout the day over oak and hickory wood to achieve barbecue perfection; and
WHEREAS, with counter service and a large neighborhood bar, Pork Barrel BBQ has established itself as the place to go for exceptional barbecue in a comfortable, relaxed, and family-friendly setting; and
WHEREAS, located in the heart of Del Ray, Pork Barrel BBQ has quickly become a favorite spot for family and friends to gather to share a meal and has served as the setting for countless community celebrations, fundraisers, and after parties; and
WHEREAS, Pork Barrel BBQ's unforgettable food is greatly enhanced by the restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance and the friendly and gracious service of its dedicated staff; and
WHEREAS, with a deep passion for great barbecue and community, Pork Barrel BBQ has helped to make Alexandria a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Pork Barrel BBQ on the occasion of its 15th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Pork Barrel BBQ as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the restaurant's contributions to Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
