Commending the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

WHEREAS, for 170 years, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Stafford County has provided its congregation with uplifting spiritual guidance, joyful occasions for worship and fellowship, and meaningful opportunities for charitable outreach; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1856, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church was one of the first Methodist congregations in the Stafford County area; and
WHEREAS, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church's first church building was located in North Stafford at what is today the intersection of Onville Road and Ebenezer Church Road; this building survived the Civil War to serve the congregation for more than 135 years before the church relocated to its present building on Embrey Mill Road; and
WHEREAS, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church has been led over the years by a distinguished line of faith leaders, including its current pastors, Emily Moore-Diamond and Jeff Harrison; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church give generously of their time to support the community through various endeavors, including food assistance initiatives, educational programs for young people, and mission trips around the world; and
WHEREAS, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church supports a number of missions and ministries to encourage its members to grow in their faith and to make a difference in the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, as a beacon of love, faith, and hope in Stafford County for the past 170 years, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Ebenezer United Methodist Church hereby be commended for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 170th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to Stafford County and the Commonwealth.
