Celebrating the life of Edward Marvin Page, Sr.

WHEREAS, Edward Marvin Page, Sr., a lifelong resident of Ridgeway, who served the Town of Ridgeway with distinction as mayor from 1990 to 2014, providing steady leadership and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of its citizens, died on July 9, 2025, leaving a legacy of public service, civic dedication, and deep devotion to the community he proudly called home; and
WHEREAS, Edward Page graduated from the University of South Carolina and served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, Edward Page devoted 35 years of his career to Dupont and later worked for Invista before ultimately assisting his wife, Shirley, at Ridgeway Signs; and
WHEREAS, during his 24 years as mayor of Ridgeway, Edward Page worked diligently and tirelessly to secure funding for critical infrastructure improvements, including the replacement of the bridge on Main Street within the Town of Ridgeway; and
WHEREAS, Edward Page was instrumental in improving the quality of life for the citizens of Ridgeway by obtaining and administering state and federal grants that enhanced housing, strengthened emergency services, and supported essential community needs; and
WHEREAS, Edward Page was a life member of the Piedmont Masonic Lodge #152, reflecting his deep commitment to service, fellowship, and the betterment of his community beyond his official duties; and
WHEREAS, Edward Page believed that “work for humanity is the best work of life,” a principle that guided his leadership, shaped his service, and inspired his lifelong dedication to the people of Ridgeway; and
WHEREAS, Edward Page leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley; his sons, Edward, Jr., and Anthony; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Edward Marvin Page, Sr., former mayor of the Town of Ridgeway, whose exceptional service to Ridgeway and the Commonwealth made an impact on countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edward Marvin Page, Sr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
