Celebrating the life of Robert Blane Maxwell III.

WHEREAS, Robert Blane Maxwell III of Henrico County, a leader in the printing industry who worked with numerous well-known clients before opening his own business in Glen Allen, died on May 17, 2025; and

WHEREAS, born in Illinois, Robert “Max” Maxwell moved to West Hartford, Connecticut, with his family and graduated from William H. Hall High School in 1969; he had his first experience in print media through an apprenticeship with a local newspaper when he was 16; and

WHEREAS, Max Maxwell continued his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology, from which he earned a bachelor's degree in printing management, then began his career as a quality manager at Parade magazine; he subsequently earned a master's degree in education from what is now the University of Lynchburg; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Max Maxwell worked for various printing companies, including Meredith-Burda, Quebecor, R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, Amgraph Packaging, Cadmus Journal Service, and Shorewood Packaging, and met the needs of a wide range of clients, including Macy's, Avon, Sears, and Ethan Allen; and

WHEREAS, after a stint as a professional magician who used magic shows to promote youth awareness of the dangers of substance abuse, Max Maxwell returned to printing in 2003 and purchased a Minuteman Press franchise in Glen Allen, which met the printing needs of community members until his retirement in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Max Maxwell further supported the community as a board member of the Great Aspirations Scholarship Program, which helps students achieve their goals in higher education; he also volunteered his leadership to the board of the Innsbrook Foundation and the Career and Technical Education program for Henrico County Public Schools; and

WHEREAS, Max Maxwell will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Lois; his sons, Blane and Ryan, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert Blane Maxwell III; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert Blane Maxwell III as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
