Commending Richard A. Snyder.

WHEREAS, Richard A. Snyder, director of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science's Eastern Shore Laboratory in Wachapreague, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Eastern Virginia Agricultural Producers, Inc., in 2026; and

WHEREAS, Richard Snyder is an interdisciplinary ecologist with a wide range of experience in microbial ecology and plant community ecology; he joined the Virginia Institute of Marine Science's Eastern Shore Laboratory as director in 2015 and has provided outstanding leadership to the facility for more than a decade; and

WHEREAS, under Richard Snyder's leadership, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science's Eastern Shore Laboratory, which is affiliated with The College of William & Mary, has provided access to unique coastal habitats and an extensive seawater laboratory that supports both research into and teaching of coastal ecology and aquaculture; and

WHEREAS, Richard Snyder has earned numerous awards and accolades for his professional achievements, including a Conservation Educator of the Year award in 2026; and

WHEREAS, Richard Snyder received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Eastern Virginia Agricultural Producers, Inc., at the 36th Annual Eastern Shore Agricultural Conference and Trade Show, held at the Exmore Moose Lodge; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Richard A. Snyder for his decades of work supporting agriculture and aquaculture on the Eastern Shore; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Richard A. Snyder as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his contributions to scientific research, farming, and resource management.
