Commending Sabrina Sklute.

WHEREAS, Sabrina Sklute, a retired pharmacist and passionate volunteer, has served communities in the Commonwealth for many years as an advocate for voting rights, women's rights, and justice and dignity for people in need; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Sabrina Sklute continued her education at the Medical College of Virginia, now the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and pursued a fulfilling career in pharmacy; and

WHEREAS, over the course of her career, Sabrina Sklute worked in retail pharmacy settings, such as Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart, and for the HCA Virginia hospital system; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Sklute also volunteered with the Chesterfield Health District Medical Reserve Corps to support the community during public health emergencies, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she administered vaccinations to nursing home residents, hospital employees, and residents of rural areas; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Sklute has worked to enhance the lives of others in many ways, helping with food distributions, clothing drives, and other charitable initiatives, as well as volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to build two homes in Northside Richmond; and

WHEREAS, believing that every person deserves to be treated with equal respect, Sabrina Sklute has supported numerous advocacy events and demonstrations, including the Women's March and events supporting the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Sklute's commitment to civic engagement has also been evident through her work as a census taker with the U.S. Census Bureau and a longtime poll worker on election days; and

WHEREAS, outside of her career and community service, Sabrina Sklute has enjoyed geocaching for more than two decades and has taught courses on the activity to Scouting organizations; she has also given talks on the subject to senior center residents and has staffed an informational booth at the Chesterfield County Fair; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina Sklute has inspired others through her unwavering optimism, resiliency, personal integrity, kindness, and grace, and she has imparted to her family members and friends her appreciation for the importance of servant leadership; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sabrina Sklute hereby be commended for her legacy of contributions to the Commonwealth as a health care professional and a volunteer activist; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sabrina Sklute as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her personal and professional achievements.
