Commending the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc.

WHEREAS, for 60 years, the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc., an international service organization dedicated to uplifting and empowering underserved youth to help them reach their full potential, has greatly served young people and families in the Roanoke area; and

WHEREAS, Continental Societies, Inc., was founded in 1956, incorporated nationally in 1972, and today has 50 chapters across 21 states, Washington, D.C., and Bermuda; and

WHEREAS, established on April 3, 1965, the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies pursues its mission through endeavors that promote health, education, employment, recreation, and the arts and humanities; and

WHEREAS, the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies organizes fundraisers to support scholarships for graduating high school students, including its endowed scholarship fund at Virginia Western Community College, nurturing young people's success along their educational journeys; and

WHEREAS, the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies celebrated its 60th anniversary at its monthly meeting on April 19, 2025, in the Pine Room of the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, as well as during a gala in the fall, which provided opportunities for its members to reflect upon the organization's positive and lasting achievements in the Roanoke region; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc., on the occasion of its 60th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Roanoke Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to Roanoke and the Commonwealth.
