Commending Joseph E. Kornhoff.

WHEREAS, Joseph E. Kornhoff serves as the executive director of the Pentagon Memorial Fund, a nonprofit organization that preserves the memory of Americans whose lives were lost during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Kornhoff grew up in Fairfax County and graduated from Robinson Secondary School before attending college at Eastern Kentucky University; and
WHEREAS, following graduation from Eastern Kentucky University in 2008, Joseph Kornhoff was commissioned in the United States Army, where he served until 2014; and
WHEREAS, during his time in the United States Army, Joseph Kornhoff served in the 101st Airborne Division, the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and the 5th Special Forces Group and completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his service, Joseph Kornhoff received several commendations, including a Bronze Star, a U.S. Army Achievement Medal, a U.S. Army Commendation Medal, and a Combat Action Badge; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, Joseph Kornhoff was honorably discharged as a captain, whereupon he continued to serve his nation as a civilian employee at the United States Department of the Army; and
WHEREAS, during his time with the U.S. Department of the Army, Joseph Kornhoff's leadership and dedication were recognized with several commendations, including the Civilian Service Commendation Medal and the U.S. Army Civilian Achievement Medal; and
WHEREAS, in 2023, Joseph Kornhoff received his master's degree in business administration from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at The College of William & Mary; and
WHEREAS, in 2023, Joseph Kornhoff was appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates to serve as a commissioner on the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, where he served until January 2024; and
WHEREAS, in 2025, Joseph Kornhoff became executive director of the Pentagon Memorial Fund, which oversees the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Kornhoff has received recognition for his work as executive director of the Pentagon Memorial Fund, including being listed by Politico in December 2025 as a “D.C. Influencer” and selected as a 2026 nominee for the Leadership Center of Arlington's “40 Under 40”; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Joseph E. Kornhoff hereby be commended for his years of service to the nation, his leadership, and his ongoing work as executive director of the Pentagon Memorial Fund; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joseph E. Kornhoff as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his patriotism and service.
