Commending Table Talk.

WHEREAS, Table Talk, a beloved restaurant in the Old Town neighborhood of Alexandria, has lovingly served home-cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner to countless diners over the past 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Table Talk was founded on June 4, 1976, by Mary and Mo Movahed, with a small dining room and an eight-stool bar; six years later, the dining space was expanded, and the restaurant now seats up to 100 patrons at a time; and

WHEREAS, Table Talk was later acquired by Jeff Yates, Sr., who continued to operate the site as a restaurant until he had the opportunity to pass it along to his son, Jeff Yates, Jr., and his wife, Kelly; and

WHEREAS, Table Talk serves a wide array of hearty and delicious American diner classics, such as eggs Benedict, sausage gravy on biscuits, roast turkey with dressing, roast top sirloin, meatloaf, pasta, sandwiches, subs, cold and hot platters, and more; and

WHEREAS, with a warm and inviting atmosphere and exceptional service, Table Talk has long been a cherished place for family and friends to gather and share a meal; and

WHEREAS, the success of Table Talk is a testament to the vision and leadership of its former and current owners and the hard work and dedication of its staff, including general manager Nick Kapetenakis, who devote themselves daily to creating a world-class dining experience for their customers; and

WHEREAS, over the past half-century, Table Talk has established itself as an institution of the Alexandria restaurant scene and an important part of what makes the city a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Table Talk for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeff and Kelly Yates, owners of Table Talk, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the restaurant's contributions to Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
