Commending the SevaTruck Foundation.

WHEREAS, the SevaTruck Foundation was established in 2016 with a mission to provide meals and educational assistance to food insecure youth in Northern Virginia to ensure that no child goes hungry or fails to reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, guided by the principle of seva, a Sanskrit word that translates to “selfless service,” the SevaTruck Foundation offers students at Title I schools in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area freshly prepared, vegetarian meals that are nutritious, kid-friendly, and culturally inclusive; and
WHEREAS, the SevaTruck Foundation utilizes mobile food trucks to meet students where they are, delivering up to 800 meals daily, while operating a commercial kitchen to facilitate large-scale, efficient meal production; and
WHEREAS, in addition to its meal service, the SevaTruck Foundation offers complementary after-school resources to foster students' success both in and out of the classroom; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the tireless efforts of the foundation's volunteers and the generosity of its corporate and community sponsors and partners, the SevaTruck Foundation has served more than 550,000 meals to children and families in need in its first decade of service; and
WHEREAS, the SevaTruck Foundation's leadership is continually focused on enhancing and diversifying operations to maximize the foundation's service capacity and its ability to meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, by epitomizing the principle of seva in all of its endeavors, the SevaTruck Foundation has made a positive and lasting impact on countless students and families in Northern Virginia; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the SevaTruck Foundation on the occasion of its 10th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the SevaTruck Foundation as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth.
