Commending W.T. Nottingham.

WHEREAS, W.T. Nottingham, owner of Pickett's Harbor Farms and a champion for the agricultural sector on the Eastern Shore, has increased interest in agriculture, provided nutritious food to local residents in need, and served as an outstanding steward of the community; and
WHEREAS, W.T. Nottingham comes from a long line of Eastern Shore farmers and has been producing fresh fruits and vegetables at Pickett's Harbor Farms in Cape Charles for 50 years; and
WHEREAS, in recent years W.T. Nottingham mentored a young couple interested in starting a flower business and helped them open Aran Farms, which is now the largest fresh-cut flower farm on the Eastern Shore; and
WHEREAS, W.T. Nottingham is passionate about supporting agricultural outreach efforts and coordinates with the Virginia Cooperative Extension to host multiple workshops at Pickett's Harbor Farms, giving members of the public opportunities to learn about agricultural practices; and
WHEREAS, for two years, W.T. Nottingham has sponsored the Northampton County 4-H cured ham project, where young people preserve hams and have them judged at the Eastern Shore Agricultural Fair; and
WHEREAS, in addition, W.T. Nottingham has helped older adults with low incomes maintain a steady supply of fresh, nutritious food by supporting the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which provides vouchers for participants to purchase fruits, vegetables, herbs, honey, and other products at farm markets or roadside stands; and
WHEREAS, at the 36th Annual Eastern Shore Agricultural Conference and Trade Show in January 2026, W.T. Nottingham received a plaque from the Association of Eastern Virginia Agricultural Producers, Inc., recognizing the important role that Pickett's Harbor Farms plays in the local agricultural sector; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend W.T. Nottingham, owner of Pickett's Harbor Farms, for his legacy of contributions to the Eastern Shore; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to W.T. Nottingham as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his visionary leadership in the agricultural sector and exceptional service to the community.
