Commending Emily Marlow Beck.

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck was named the 2026 TIME Dealer of the Year nominee for Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck is the third-generation owner of Marlow Motor Company, a family business founded in 1947 in the Shenandoah Valley; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and a law degree from the American University Washington College of Law, then worked at a legal practice focusing on auto dealer compliance issues before joining the family business in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck is the first woman named as the Commonwealth's nominee for this distinguished award since 1998, a testament to her exemplary contributions as an industry leader and role model; and

WHEREAS, an active and dedicated member of her community, Emily Marlow Beck has supported a wide array of industry and community causes for many years; and

WHEREAS, under Emily Marlow Beck's guidance, Marlow Motor Company has expanded future-ready operations while fostering a culture grounded in innovation, integrity, and teamwork; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck created a Cares Committee at her dealerships to unite dealership team members in community-focused initiatives, such as animal shelter adoption events, food supply drives, and employee recognition programs; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck is a champion of workforce development and has created educational opportunities through programs like Degrees@Work, which provides no-cost college degree pathways and tuition support for Marlow Motor Company employees and their families, as well as partnerships with local vocational and scholarship programs; and

WHEREAS, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Marlow Motor Company, Emily Marlow Beck developed the “75 Acts of Kindness” campaign, mobilizing employees to complete at least 75 acts of community service in 25 workdays, inspiring similar local efforts and strengthening civic bonds; and

WHEREAS, an active and dedicated member of the automotive industry, Emily Marlow Beck has served her customers and her community with a generous spirit and has been an example to dealers in the region and around the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck's leadership extends beyond the dealership, and she has served in multiple leadership roles with the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association, bringing a thoughtful and informed voice to important industry issues; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck served as chair of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association in 2022, providing wise insights to her fellow franchise dealers as their top elected officer; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Emily Marlow Beck has been supported by her husband, Andrew, and she is a loving mother to their children, Olin, Marshall, and Margaret; and

WHEREAS, Emily Marlow Beck exemplifies the ideals of leadership, service, and commitment to excellence, and her recognition as a TIME Dealer of the Year nominee brings great pride to her community, her industry peers, and the residents of the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Emily Marlow Beck on her selection as the 2026 TIME Dealer of the Year nominee for Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Emily Marlow Beck as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes.
