Commending the Botetourt County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

WHEREAS, for 60 years, the Botetourt County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has conducted generous community outreach projects throughout Botetourt County while promoting historical preservation, education, and patriotism; and
WHEREAS, the Botetourt County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization for women who are directly descended from a patriot of the American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, the Botetourt County Chapter of the NSDAR received its charter on January 23, 1965, and its members worked diligently to uphold the mission and values of the national organization; and
WHEREAS, the Botetourt County Chapter of the NSDAR maintains the Allen-Carper Cemetery in Eagle Rock, the resting place of numerous patriots of the American Revolution, including Malcolm Allen; the chapter also places small flags on the graves of veterans at Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle on Memorial Day and Veterans Day; and
WHEREAS, members of the Botetourt County Chapter of the NSDAR facilitate historical preservation and interpretation by serving as docents at the Botetourt Historical Museum; and
WHEREAS, the Botetourt County Chapter of the NSDAR works with Boy Scout Troop 211 and helps high school seniors achieve their dreams of pursuing higher education through a scholarship program; and
WHEREAS, the Botetourt County Chapter of the NSDAR strives to enhance the quality of life throughout the Botetourt County community through volunteer service and is a longtime supporter of the Botetourt Food Pantry; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Botetourt County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution hereby be commended on the occasion of its 60th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Botetourt County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's legacy of achievements in service to the local community, the Commonwealth, and the nation.
