Commending Hapco Pole Products.

WHEREAS, Hapco Pole Products, a leading manufacturer and designer of lighting, decorative, solar, and smart poles based in Abingdon, celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1951 as the Hubbard Aluminum Products Company, Hapco has operated out of Abingdon since 1962 and has been a pioneer of the light pole design and manufacturing industry for many years; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being one of the first companies to manufacture aluminum street light poles and brackets, Hapco is credited with developing the industry's first tapered aluminum light pole; and
WHEREAS, Hapco's many industry-first patents in pole design and vibration mitigation reflect the company's unwavering commitment to innovation and the development of solutions that will benefit its customers; and
WHEREAS, today, Hapco is a subsidiary of the international holding company Dyson-Kissner-Moran Corporation, and the company operates out of a 325,000-square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Abingdon that has steadily expanded over the past six decades; and
WHEREAS, Hapco has earned a reputation for quality and dependability as a result of the longevity and affordability of its products, with many of its earliest installations remaining in service to this day; and
WHEREAS, Hapco has continually diversified its product offerings over the years, and today manufactures aluminum and steel poles, decorative streetscape solutions, solar poles, and smart pole solutions that are used by transportation, utility, commercial, industrial, and municipal entities nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Hapco's products are proudly American made, a testament to the company's longstanding commitment to domestic manufacturing and to making a positive and lasting mark on the Southwest Virginia community and its economy; and
WHEREAS, Hapco's accomplishments are the result of the skill and dedication of its employees and the unwavering support of its representatives, customers, architects, engineers, and specifiers; and
WHEREAS, in honor of its 75th anniversary, Hapco is introducing a commemorative seal that will be used throughout 2026 to highlight the company's legacy of American manufacturing excellence; and
WHEREAS, Hapco's historic milestone provides an opportunity for leadership, staff, and the community to reflect upon the company's success and the transformative impact it has had on lighting infrastructure across the United States; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Hapco Pole Products, a national leader in light pole manufacturing and design, hereby be commended on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Hapco Pole Products as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the company's contributions to Southwest Virginia, the Commonwealth, and the country.
