Commending the Spotsylvania County Museum.

WHEREAS, the Spotsylvania County Museum, which has preserved, interpreted, and shared the history of Spotsylvania County, the Commonwealth, and the United States since 1964, joined the Virginia 250 Passport program to promote the 250th anniversary of the founding of the nation; and

WHEREAS, as a destination for the Virginia 250 Passport, the Spotsylvania County Museum provides a 64-page commemorative booklet, which serves as a keepsake, discount book, and travel guide to some of the Commonwealth's foremost historical sites and museums; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia 250 Passport program, supported by the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission and the Virginia Tourism Corporation, links the Spotsylvania County Museum with dozens of participating sites in every region of the Commonwealth, including the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, Colonial Williamsburg, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, George Washington's Mount Vernon, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello; and

WHEREAS, visitors to the Spotsylvania County Museum can pick up a Virginia 250 Passport free of charge and obtain stamps at participating locations, encouraging passport holders to have meaningful experiences while engaging with history across the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the Spotsylvania County Museum offers exhibits interpreting the region's history from Native American societies and the Colonial era to the Civil War and modern times, and its participation in the Virginia 250 Passport program will help share Spotsylvania County's fascinating stories with a wider audience; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Spotsylvania County Museum for its participation in the Virginia 250 Passport program; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Spotsylvania County Museum as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the museum's contributions to preserving the history and heritage of the Commonwealth and the United States.
