Commending Beatrice Black.

WHEREAS, Beatrice Black, a vibrant member of the Chesapeake community who has made numerous contributions to others through her civic involvement, celebrated her 90th birthday on February 14, 2026; and
WHEREAS, born in 1936, Beatrice Black has witnessed countless historical events over the course of her life, from World War II and the civil rights movement to the Moon landing and the dawn of the Internet era; and
WHEREAS, Beatrice Black grew up in Concord, North Carolina, where she attended Logan High School; and
WHEREAS, Beatrice Black was married to the late Willie J. Black for many years and supported his career as a drill sergeant in the United States Army, becoming involved with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans, and other veterans organizations; and
WHEREAS, after living in New Jersey for more than four decades, Beatrice Black settled in Chesapeake and has continued to uphold her lifelong dedication to community service; and
WHEREAS, in addition to becoming a life member of the VFW, Beatrice Black has provided her wisdom and insightful leadership to the Order of the Eastern Star, the Red Hatters High Steppers of Chesapeake, the Busy Bees Senior Club, and the Seniors Ministry at New Hope Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, the proud matriarch of a large family, Beatrice Black raised five children and has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she has imparted to the next generations of her family her kindness, dignity, grace, and commitment to servant leadership; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Beatrice Black of Chesapeake hereby be commended on the occasion of her 90th birthday; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Beatrice Black as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her lifetime of achievements and best wishes.
