AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to require the Commission on Civic Education to review and make recommendations on the inclusion of the contributions, perspectives, and experiences of historically marginalized communities in the History and Social Science Standards of Learning and Curriculum Framework; report.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The Commission on Civic Education (the Commission) established pursuant to Chapter 55 (§ 30-348 et seq.) of Title 30 of the Code of Virginia shall review and make recommendations on the inclusion in the History and Social Science Standards of Learning and Curriculum Framework and any associated instructional guides of the contributions, perspectives, and experiences of historically marginalized communities. The Commission shall include its findings and recommendations in its annual report required pursuant to § 30-351 of the Code of Virginia.
