Commending John I. Ferguson.

WHEREAS, John I. Ferguson has devoted 35 years of exemplary service as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent to Scott County Public Schools, culminating in 15 years as the division superintendent, during which time he provided steadfast leadership, visionary guidance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in public education; and

WHEREAS, John Ferguson began his distinguished career with Scott County Public Schools in 1991 as a dedicated educator at Shoemaker Elementary School; he subsequently taught at Gate City Middle School and served as an administrator at Twin Springs High School, Fort Blackmore Primary School, and Gate City Middle School, as well as the central office, where he consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism, integrity, and a sincere passion for supporting students, teachers, and staff; and

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure as division superintendent, John Ferguson oversaw significant advancements in instructional practice, school safety, infrastructure improvements, technology integration, and fiscal stewardship, ensuring that Scott County Public Schools remained a strong and vibrant learning community; and

WHEREAS, under John Ferguson's leadership, Scott County Public Schools achieved numerous academic and organizational successes, reflecting his belief that every student deserves access to high-quality educational opportunities and that every educator deserves the support necessary to provide them; and

WHEREAS, John Ferguson is widely respected for his collaborative leadership style, his ability to build strong relationships with families and community partners, and his commitment to maintaining a culture of trust, transparency, and student-centered decision-making, earning him recognition by his colleagues as the Region VII Superintendent of the Year in 2020; and

WHEREAS, John Ferguson's career reflects the highest ideals of public service, and his longtime dedication has had a lasting and positive impact on generations of students, educators, and families throughout Scott County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That John I. Ferguson hereby be commended for his 35 years of outstanding service to Scott County Public Schools, including 15 years of distinguished leadership as division superintendent; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John I. Ferguson as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration and appreciation for his exceptional contributions to public education in the Commonwealth.
