Commending Tim Rizer.

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer, a longtime Fairfax County resident and member of the board of directors at the Workhouse Arts Foundation in Lorton, was presented the Philanthropy Award by ArtsFairfax in 2025; and

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer is the founder of Item, Inc., an international distributor of printer and copier supplies, which he led for more than 45 years; he also found success in his professional career leading a number of real estate investment ventures, serving as president and managing member of G & G, LLC, and as managing member of Marto 2, LLC, and Occoquan Overlook, LP; and

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer's longstanding commitment to the growth and development of Fairfax County includes service as president and Land Use Committee chair of the South County Federation and as founding chair of the South Fairfax Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer has made a lasting impact in Lorton as an active supporter of the Lorton Community Action Center and as a member of the Lorton Vision Task Force; and

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer has primarily championed the arts in Fairfax County through his involvement with the Workhouse Art Foundation and the Workhouse Arts Center, an innovative cultural arts center occupying a 55-acre portion of the former Lorton Reformatory; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his service as a board director and former chair of the Workhouse Arts Foundation, Tim Rizer has given generously to support the education and community engagement activities at the Workhouse Arts Center, becoming one of the institution's largest individual donors; and

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer's philanthropy has supported the establishment of a number of facilities at the Workhouse Arts Center, including the Rizer Pavilion, which provides a venue for outdoor concerts, performances, and events; and

WHEREAS, Tim Rizer is regularly a key sponsor for a number of cherished annual events at the Workhouse Arts Center, including the Workhouse Fireworks Celebration, the Workhouse Ball, and the Workhouse Golf Classic; and

WHEREAS, through his unwavering commitment to cultural stewardship and the well-being of the community, Tim Rizer has helped to make Fairfax County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Tim Rizer hereby be commended for receiving the 2025 ArtsFairfax Philanthropy Award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tim Rizer as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for his contributions to the arts in Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
