Celebrating the life of Saundra Dee Bondurant.

WHEREAS, Saundra Dee Bondurant of Moneta, a dynamic volunteer leader and a champion for the Smith Mountain Lake community, died on January 11, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Saundra “DeeDee” Bondurant grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and relocated to the Commonwealth after marrying her husband, Louis, who was a native of Richmond; the couple lived in Charlottesville and Middleburg before settling in the Smith Mountain Lake area in 2000; and
WHEREAS, DeeDee Bondurant quickly became an active member of the community known for her sparkling personality, unwavering determination, and boundless generosity; she was not only the community's premier hostess and the life of every party, but a dedicated philanthropist who supported a wide range of charitable organizations in the area; and
WHEREAS, DeeDee Bondurant provided her leadership to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour, the Flotilla for Toys charitable boat parade, the Smith Mountain Lake Water Safety Council, the Moneta Garden Club, the Salvation Army, Smith Mountain Lake's Celebrate the Lake event, and the She-Dos, a boating safety and social organization; and
WHEREAS, DeeDee Bondurant was a passionate advocate for the region and was active in government through the Smith Mountain Lake Republican Women and the Proud Patriots of Smith Mountain Lake; and
WHEREAS, DeeDee Bondurant enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish, where she participated in many activities and ministries; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband, Louis, DeeDee Bondurant will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Audrey and Michele, and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and fellow members of the Smith Mountain Lake community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Saundra Dee Bondurant; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Saundra Dee Bondurant as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
